Dear Parents,
Welcome, I hope that all of you had a wonderful summer and Labor Day holiday. I look forward to another great year of learning for our students and seeing the parents this school year. Your child’s Speech and Language Therapy or Response to Intervention (RtI) has already begun. The students will be working on the goals/objectives, which were established at their yearly annual review meeting. Your interest in your child’s progress is important to his or her success and is greatly appreciated. You will be getting progress reports enclosed with your child’s report card each trimester from me regarding their IEP goals.
A Speech and Language Folder will be sent home everyday in their backpacks.
Please take the opportunity to communicate daily with your child about speech. Home practice is vital for insuring carryover of their goals outside the speech setting.
I have included in their speech folders a copy of the Speech/Language assignment sheet. Review their assignment sheet and their folder and be sure they complete their weekly assignments by signing your initials on their assignment sheet and have them circle day (s) homework was completed. Remind your child to bring their folder for each session for their speech therapy. (Make sure they are in their backpack every school day).
If they have completed their homework they will be rewarded for their efforts. Tickets can be earned to have no homework assigned. Homework assignments will vary and are not given every session.
If you have any questions about your child’s goals, progress, homework or anything else feel free to call me here or send an email. I am always glad to discuss your concerns and welcome your suggestions.
Sincerely,
Ani Magid
